Waterworks Studio with Jackie Kingsbury

  • Art Room Rio Verde Community Center 85263 (map)

If you love acrylics or watercolor, join us on Friday mornings from 9:00 to 12:00 in the art room. We are seeking new members to learn the basics and explore the possibilities. Each week we will devote the first hour to materials and skill techniques. A paint along will follow with an emphasis on the featured technique.

Our opening class will begin Nov. 6th with” Splashes of Color”.  Do you like warm or cool or perhaps HOT? Should you use opaque or transparent colors? Should you add more water for a range in value. Color verbiage can be confusing so let’s discuss the meaning of primary colors, secondary colors and complimentary colors. Are the colors opaque or transparent? What’s the temperature? There are so many choices! We will get familiar with these topics this year.

Beginners are encouraged to join us as we all learn together. Our motto is to let the water do the work. Sometimes we help the water along with sponges, saran wrap, gesso, salt or tape.

Focus: Nov.13th will be RED and PURPLE added to our color mix. Bring fall decorations to share. I will bring pumpkins and squash. I will have Cadmium Red and Alizarin Crimson. Let’s think Thanksgiving.

Cost: $20 to purchase supplies and handouts.
