If you love acrylics or watercolor, join us on Friday mornings from 8:30 to 12:30 in the art room. We are seeking new members to learn the basics and explore the possibilities. Each week we will devote the first hour to materials and skill techniques. A paint along will follow with an emphasis on the featured technique.

Our opening class will begin Nov. 6th with” Splashes of Color”.  Do you like warm or cool or perhaps HOT? Should you use opaque or transparent colors? Should you add more water for a range in value. Color verbiage can be confusing so let’s discuss the meaning of primary colors, secondary colors and complimentary colors. Are the colors opaque or transparent? What’s the temperature? There are so many choices! We will get familiar with these topics this year.

Beginners are encouraged to join us as we all learn together. Our motto is to let the water do the work. Sometimes we help the water along with sponges, saran wrap, gesso, salt or tape.

Focus: Nov. 6th will be YELLOW and BLUE Day. Bring something yellow to class. How about a yellow mum, squash, or a banana. I will have Cadmium Yellow, New Gamboge and Raw Sienna for yellow. Blue will be Cobalt and Ultra Marine Blue. Can we make a Hooker’s Green or Sap Green with  these colors? Together we will paint sunflowers or items brought by you. Bring your supplies of paper, brushes and paints.
