Introduction to wheel throwing in clay
In this 3-week course, Danielle will guide you in the basics of how to throw on the potter’s wheel by learning how to center, open, pull to create small cups, bowls and other stoneware pottery. Each class will begin with a demonstration, then you’ll practice creating up to 4 pieces per session, typically keeping several pieces each session to fire. This workshop is for students with little or no experience, but seasoned potters are welcome to join.
Additional sessions are November 7th and November 14th, same time and place.
RESERVE EARLY: the class is limited to the number of wheels available. If you can only attend one session, contact Danielle to reserve your spot for a specific date. If you register for the full session, you will have access to shared glazes and tools in the Art Loft. Attending one session, your bisque pieces can be picked up 2 weeks after the session has ended.
Supplies to Bring: An apron or dress to be messy..

About the Host: Danielle Wood is a local valley artist working in clay, exploring the medium through sculpture and installation. She holds a BFA in Ceramics from Arizona State University and an MFA in Ceramics from New Mexico State University. She teaches at Glendale Community College, Benedictine University, and Shemer Art Center. Her work is exhibited in valley galleries, museums and public art installations including the Phoenix Sky Harbor Gallery. Scottsdale Public Art Program and Mesa Art Center.
