Handbuilding in clay

In this 4-week course, Danielle will provide unique examples and demonstrate techniques to create coil pots, pinch pots, slab building, press and drape molds for functional and sculptural forms. After each demonstration, you will create your own pieces. You’ll learn about underglazes and cone 5/6 glazes. Independent Work: If you have prior ceramics experience, you may choose to work on a project of your own.

Additional dates are December 5th, December 12th, and December 19th.

Supplies to Bring: An apron or dress to be messy..

Supplies Provided by Host: Clay and tools.

Cost : $220 for 4 classes, $60 for a single class

About the Host: Danielle Wood is a local valley artist working in clay, exploring the medium through sculpture and installation. She holds a BFA in Ceramics from Arizona State University and an MFA in Ceramics from New Mexico State University. She teaches at Glendale Community College, Benedictine University, and Shemer Art Center. Her work is exhibited in valley galleries, museums and public art installations including the Phoenix Sky Harbor Gallery. Scottsdale Public Art Program and Mesa Art Center.
